Notes: Based on The Ravin, from Sam's POV, I called it the Haven just because thats what 1973 seems to be for Sam, not much to do with the poem though, sorry. :)
Just so you all know, Everyones comments made me go from this ---> :| :) :D <--- to this after a long day of school. So thanks for that :D
Once upon a midday dreary, while I pondered bored and weary,
Over an important file, of which comes with the career
While I nodded, nearly sleeping, suddenly there came a beeping,
It must be my heart rate beeping, beeping loudly in my ear.
“I’m sure it is nothing, ” I muttered, "the beeping in my ear
Because i am in the wrong year.”
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak September,
In Gene's eyes an angry ember at the body upon the floor.
I looked at her with sorrow - and my brow I had to furrow
We wished to catch the culprit by the morrow- the morrow for Lenore
For the poor and deceased victim whom her mother named Lenore -
So against the killer the Guv has started a war.
So there I sat engaged in guessing, but no thoughts I was expressing,
On the case whose questions were really quite grotesque.
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my wooden desk.
`'Tis just Chris,' half-asleep I muttered, `tapping at my wooden desk'
But the tapping was more Hunt-esque.
Presently the voice grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
`Sir,' said it, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is you was napping, and so loudly I came rapping,
And so I had to go tapping, tapping at your desk more,
Now it's time to wake up Gladys or I'll kick you out the door;
Because I am simply THE LAW!
Back to the case turning, under my arse a fire burning,
Soon again I heard a beeping somewhat louder than before.
`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something I can control;
Let me see then, what it is, and this mystery explore
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;
Then I'll work on the case and nothing more!
But the doctor on the telephone, spoke four words only,
Because of those four words, I dropped the phone upon the floor.
Nothing further then he uttered, not a sorry that he muttered
Till I scarcely more than stuttered `you have said this before,
Count on it that I will wake up, as I have fought this before.'
Said the Doctor , `he's not fighting anymore'
Open here I flung the file, when, with many a flit and flutter,
Out there flung the dusty carbon papers that were used in law.
My stress was on the brink; I had to stop and think;
I looked at all the files that were from the door to door
When I noticed something odd that was in the door to door
"My neighbour was a whore"
With this little hint beguiling, my sad features into smiling,
In I ran to Gene Hunt, my good name I will restore
He was looking quite resigned, so I told him about my find.
'I have learned that cheat on her husband did Lenore
I found this out from the statement of the man next door!'
'This is too much to ignore'
Back into the house returning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon enough I saw him running, and we chased him as we swore
'Really,' said I, 'really is this the game he wants to play?
Let me see then, what he will say, when he's tackled to the floor
When the sirens start screaming and lying cuffed on the floor
He's been nicked and nothing more
Once upon a midday cheery, fingers cramped and vision bleary,
Important files piled high though so much writing ain't a chore,
I was happy, nearly singing, when suddenly there comes a ringing.
Having reached the bottom line I took the phone up off the floor,
The doctor on the other end said I was responding more,
And now the beeping is no more
