Denial Challenge, by the small hobbit

Title: "Not Me"
Rating: White Cortina
Pairing: none
Wordcount: 280
Summary: Someone has taken the centrefold from Ray's "Just Jugs"

When Ray Carling discovered the centrefold from his current issue of “Just Jugs” was missing his first reaction was to blame Chris Skelton.  Chris however, denied any responsibility and Ray was forced to believe him.

Ray then asked Gene if he had taken the picture.  Gene raised an eyebrow and muttered something about having better things to do with his time.

Ray’s next port of call was Geoff and Vince, but he found them looking at Geoff’s own copy, so that ruled them out too.

By this time Ray was getting very frustrated.  He was tempted to ask Annie, but decided that that would only provide him with a second black eye to match the one Phyllis had given him when he vaguely suggested that she might know something about it.

However, curiosity made Annie walk over to inspect the magazine.  “Whoever did it didn’t just rip the page out,” she said.  “They have removed it very methodically.”

“But there’s only one person who does things methodically in this office,” said Chris, “surely you can’t think ...”

Ray had a quick look in Sam’s desk, but could find nothing.  “Okay,” he said, “this is what we’re going to do.”

Later, just before beer o’clock, Sam opened his locker.  At the moment Chris called out “Boss, could you have a quick look at this please.”

Hurriedly Ray peered into Sam’s locker.  He found what he was looking for, took it out and waved it in the air.  Sam felt himself starting to blush.

“It’s okay, Boss,” Ray said, “pay for my drinks tonight and I’ll say no more about it.  And next time just ask and I’ll give it to you.”
